Hazie Masters Club: Redefining Social Clubs in Nigeria through Investment, Philanthropy, and Community

In Nigeria, social clubs are often synonymous with leisure and networking. However, Hazie Masters International Club is setting a new precedent—one that seamlessly blends investment, philanthropy, and camaraderie. Based in Lagos and led by High Chief Richard Ifeanyi Agbapuru, the club has made significant strides in the hospitality sector while remaining deeply committed to uplifting the less privileged. With a valuation of ₦7 billion and a soon-to-be-completed 62-bedroom hotel, Hazie Masters is proving that social clubs can be powerful drivers of economic growth and social impact.

Transforming the Hospitality Landscape

Hazie Masters is on the verge of completing its flagship project—a 62-bedroom hotel situated on Ago Palace Way, Okota, Lagos. Expected to open by March or April 2025, this project underscores the club’s dedication to long-term investment and economic development.

At the club’s end-of-year celebration, High Chief Agbapuru highlighted the significance of this achievement:
“This year, we have made remarkable progress, particularly in our investment goals. Once our hotel becomes operational, we will embark on a new project in Victoria Island.”

The expansion into Victoria Island will not only strengthen Hazie Masters’ footprint in the hospitality sector but also create job opportunities for both graduates and non-graduates, reinforcing its commitment to national development.

Philanthropy at the Heart of Hazie Masters

Beyond business success, Hazie Masters remains dedicated to social responsibility. High Chief Agbapuru emphasized that the club was founded with the core mission of supporting the less privileged—a mission that remains central to its activities.

“We have positively impacted the lives of orphans and vulnerable Nigerians through our charity initiatives,” he said.

As part of its philanthropic vision, the club is launching a nationwide scholarship program to support underprivileged students. This initiative reflects Hazie Masters’ belief in education as a catalyst for social change.

A New Standard for Social Clubs

Hazie Masters International Club distinguishes itself as one of the most prestigious clubs founded by individuals of Igbo heritage. According to High Chief Agbapuru, the club’s success is rooted in the intelligence, discipline, and financial prudence of its members.

Unlike many clubs that overspend and operate at a deficit, Hazie Masters follows a strict financial management approach. “If we generate ₦2 billion in a year, we ensure that we spend wisely—allocating ₦1.5 billion while reinvesting ₦500 million for future growth. This financial discipline keeps us financially stable,” Agbapuru explained.

This model has positioned Hazie Masters as a benchmark for sustainable social organizations—demonstrating that financial success and social impact can go hand in hand.

A Celebration of Unity and Generosity

The club’s end-of-year gala, held at its newly completed event center, was a grand affair. Members and their spouses gathered for an evening of entertainment, fine dining, and heartfelt appreciation. A live band from Delta State provided music, while an atmosphere of camaraderie filled the venue.

A key highlight of the event was the club’s special recognition of members’ wives, who received ₦42 million in appreciation, along with premium gift items. According to Agbapuru, “This is our way of celebrating and encouraging our spouses.”

The event was made even more special by the generosity of six members who personally sponsored the occasion. Their contributions ensured that the celebration was both memorable and meaningful.

Leadership in a Circle of Success

Managing a club of wealthy and influential businessmen comes with its challenges. High Chief Agbapuru candidly acknowledged the complexities of leading successful and independent-minded individuals.

“Rich men can be difficult to lead, and disagreements are inevitable. However, what sets us apart is our ability to resolve differences and move forward together,” he noted.

Despite these challenges, Agbapuru expressed confidence in the club’s direction, emphasizing that unity among members remains a cornerstone of its success.

Building a Legacy of Impact

Hazie Masters International Club is more than just a social gathering—it is a force for economic and social transformation. By merging investment with philanthropy, it is proving that social organizations can be both financially sustainable and impactful.

With a growing footprint in the hospitality sector, plans for expansion, and a commitment to education, the club is laying the foundation for a lasting legacy. Its disciplined financial model ensures sustainability while continuing to drive social change.

As Hazie Masters looks to the future, it remains committed to redefining what a social club can be. Through visionary leadership, financial prudence, and a spirit of generosity, it stands as a model for others to follow.

In the words of High Chief Agbapuru:
“We are proud of what we have achieved so far, and we are confident that even greater things lie ahead for Hazie Masters.”

By blending wealth with wisdom, business with benevolence, and socializing with substance, Hazie Masters International Club is setting a new standard for excellence in Nigeria.
